Have a sony DCR-TRV203 (NTSC) digital8 camcorder that displays the below artifacts intermittently (every 20 seconds or so) on playback. I have cleaned the head with no major improvement. These artifacts display on the LCD display as well as via the viewfinder.
Any insight as to what the problem may be would be appreciated.

This is a character generator processor fault, If you are using firewire or S-Video output you should not have to worry about this, Make sure you set OSD to off.

Unless it was burnt into the tape that way, in which case you're basically stuck with it.

This is correct, thanks Dellsam34. My menu button does not work so i can;t turn off the OSD funtion, but when I connect and capture via Svideo or FW the capture is clean.

    Thanks again.
