A friend uses Final Cut Pro on his Mac. He asked if I could recommend a DVD encoder that is better than Compressor. Does anyone have any suggestions for him?

"better" is a somewhat nebulous term. Faster? Higher quality? (and what do we mean by that?)

ffmpegX works quickly and provides nice quality.

Others will chime in soon. Be patient.

It was claimed here that Toast 7&8 encoders are a "light" version of it.
