I am considering replacing the HDD in my Pioneer DVR-550H, and just want to make sure I have everything figured out before I spend any money seeing if I can fix it.
From what I understand from looking on the Internet, I need:
1) a "GGV1273,GGV1305,GGV1321" service disc image from yourself via donation.
2) a SATA HDD no bigger than 500GB.
3) a service remote control capable of transmitting "Esc, Stereo, Play, Clear, Search, and Stop"
4) Then just follow the instructions on your web page.
If I missed anything here, please let me know.

So the only thing I can not get a handle on is the remote control. Tutorials say to load a "Philips Pronto file" (ccf extension) into a Pronto, or a Palm PDA, but those must be old tutorials being as those devices are very very old and not common at all anymore. What I do have though is a Samsung Galaxy smartphone that has an IR transmitter built in to it so you can use your phone as a IR remote control for TVs etc, but I can not find a phone app that will accept a ccf Pronto file..

So, with your knowledge of Pioneer DVRs, are you aware of an android phone app that will accept a ccf Pronto file so I can use the phone as the Pioneer service remote rather than have to buy a remote/device I will never use again?
