VLC. Use it on both windows and Linux. It's nice to have the same interface across both platforms.

I use powerdvd because it came with my dvd and is easy to use. My only complaint is that the control buttons are so small.

  10. PowerDVD, but Media Player Classic is a very close second.

Power DVD 5 (I find 6 buggy) Power DVD Five has the 2X with Audio Pitch Shifted back to intelligible (IT ROCKS!)

VLC VideoLAN is also great, but suffers from too many settings..no easy way to return to default!..and those DISMISS ERRORS? mssages from hell

The APPLE DVD player receives a special mention for being terrible
(I think you still have to hold fast foward down to scan)

The windows Media Player (WMP) receives a special mention for being terrible. (Do you wanna watch penoptic water with your DVD's soundtrack)

does POWER DVD 4.5 do double speed with sound?
don't tell the Director, but I found this an excellent way to wade thru some of the tripe that's out there!
also, you can't beat power dvd's 'show information' feature that shows the bit rates, AUDIO & VIDEO over your dvd picture in a text overlay

I use WinDVD because the old version of PowerDVD that came with my burner would not work with AC-3 sound. I should upgrade but of late I only use the computer software to view files on the computer. For DVD playback, I use my Philips 642 and my television...

PowerDVD is the best DVD player I've seen so far.
Media Player Classic is a good all-purpose player.
