I have the video camera listed above . It was sent to me from Australia, hence the E designation on the end of the model number(european). I cant get the disc I recorded on to download in my computer, it doesnt even recognise the disc, I was told by hitachi that is because there is different coding systems between the countries. Now, my question is ,How do I convert this camera to the american code so i can download whats on the disc?

the disc most likely needs to be finalized in the camera first. then it should be readable in any pc dvd drive. it might not play in a standalone dvd player as it might be pal and in the u.s. most standalone players need it to be ntsc, but any computer should handle it ok.

[edit] the cam can't be converted.

the disc has been finalized and the computer doesnt see it. i hear spinning in the drive but no indication that the disc is being read. usually it will show a little disc on the screen when its being loaded ....nothing.

aedipuss is right....if that disc is finalized....then there is NO reason your computer should not be able recognize that disc.

Usually means the disc is full and there is no more room left to finalize the disc. Might be able to rip the content with Isobuster in order to be able use the video files...

you could try buying isobuster or cdroller to recover unfinalized data off the disc. may not be anything there though. it might be time to toss it and forget about it.

isobuster or cdroller may still have free demos, try them on the disc and see if they can find anything to extract.

Connect the camera video out to a dvd recorder or capture card.
