Greetings,
I am trying to capture some home movies to create a digital back up and do some editing on them. The Videos are on compact VHS tapes and are being plaied back on on a standard RCA VCR using an adaptor. The problem I am having is that when there is a section of snow due stopping and starting of the camera Premiere Pro is reading this as the end of a clip and wants me to enter the info. I want to be able to record the entire tape in with out stopping. Below is a run down of the settings I am using on Premiere Pro and system setup.
System.
Windows XP pro
Core 2 Duo
3 gig of ram.
Kick out box: Canopus ADVC-300.
RCA VCR using standard Video, auido L&R.
Premiere Pro CS3
in the program prefs..under capture
"abort capture on dropped frames" not selected
"report dropped frames" Selected
"Generate batch logfile only on...: Selected
"use Device Control timecode" Not Selected
Under Device Control...options
NTSC
Canopus
ADVC-100 (not a option for the 300)
Auto Detect.
On the Logging screen for the capture everything is at its default and same with the settings on capture screen.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I have tried as many things as I can think of and I have a lot of tapes and don't want to babysit them if I can help it.

Premiere should not be used for capture unless you're using a hardware NLE card (Matrox, Canopus). It's not very good. Great editor, awful capture tool.
No, the ADVC is not an NLE card.
Use WinDV or Scenalyzer.
After capture, open Premiere, then import the video to the timeline.
