  1. This link:
    http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/videos/the-providers/
I can use youtube-dl to download the video no problem. But I want to download the subtitles/closed captions.
When I play the stream in the browser, I can click "cc" and the subtitles will appear no problem.
But I want to use youtube-dl to download just the subtitles. I tried:
    Code:
    youtube-dl --all-subs --skip-download "http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/videos/the-providers/"
but that doesn't seem to work. Is there anyway I can use youtube-dl to download the subtitles?

  2. This is a known bug where pbs.org is concerned. Somebody posted a workaround at https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/issues/18796 but I haven't tried it.

  3. I have same problem with this video:
    https://dasersteuni-vh.akamaihd.net/i/int/2020/11/27/d137a302-9472-433d-b7aa-9ad65aa50...ion=responsive
It has German subtitle that can play when streaming ("UT" on/off), but I cannot download it...
With Firefox, right-clicking “Examine element”, tab “Network”, I got those two URLs :
    https://www.ardmediathek.de/subtitle/460507
    https://classic.ardmediathek.de/subtitle/460507
Trying to access them directly from the browser failed (404 page), but doing a right-click on the second one (the www link didn't work, 0 byte output) and selecting “Copy as cURL” I got this :
    Code:
    curl "https://www.ardmediathek.de/subtitle/460507" -H "User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:83.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/83.0" -H "Accept: */*" -H "Accept-Language: fr,fr-FR;q=0.8,en-US;q=0.5,en;q=0.3" --compressed -H "Referer: https://www.ardmediathek.de/ard/video/tatort/taxi-nach-leipzig-oder-der-erste-tatort/das-erste/Y3JpZDovL2Rhc2Vyc3RlLmRlL3RhdG9ydC9kMTM3YTMwMi05NDcyLTQzM2QtYjdhYS05YWQ2NWFhNTBlNmM/" -H "Connection: keep-alive" -H "Cookie: population=40; _bb_optout=0; atidvisitor="%"7B"%"22name"%"22"%"3A"%"22atidvisitor"%"22"%"2C"%"22val"%"22"%"3A"%"7B"%"22vrn"%"22"%"3A"%"22-511893-"%"22"%"7D"%"2C"%"22options"%"22"%"3A"%"7B"%"22path"%"22"%"3A"%"22"%"2F"%"22"%"2C"%"22session"%"22"%"3A15724800"%"2C"%"22end"%"22"%"3A15724800"%"7D"%"7D; xtvrn=`$511893`$" -H "TE: Trailers"
Then copying this in CMD, adding « --cacert cacert.pem », and « -o "name.xml" », it worked. Don't know what parts in the above command are required, and if it could be simplified. Of course curl.exe is required.

  4. I used Tubedigger and got the srt subtitle file instantly. I think you can use the free version of Tubedigger to do this. One strange thing: I noticed the subtitle timing is 10 hours advanced. I don't know why. I used software "Time Adjuster" to delay the subtitles by 10 hours.
