Hello. New to this forum and looking for advice.
I help out a broadcast class at a school near me. They want to move up to a new level and be able to do roll-ins and play video clips. They had been doing it with VHS tape in the past, but that is sooo 1985.
Is anyone familiar with a real rudimentary Open Source program that can make a plain vanilla Linux PC (with composite Video Out card) function as a video clip playout box? I hesitate to use the term "clip server", as that implies pro broadcast. This is anything but. I just need something that can show a queue of clips ready to roll on a VGA monitor, and a separate video out that will play the selected clip when "un-paused".
I do not want to use a stock Linux movie viewer in Full Screen mode. I'd like this to be as close to the big pro broadcast boxes as possible, while still being brainlessly simple for students to latch onto right away.
Does this exist? Am I dreaming? Thanks for your guidance and advice.
