I have Win 2K, and it keeps giving me that 4 gb limit for captures. I though that Win 2K was supposed to help you get around that limit. Is there any way to turn it off?? Please Reply,
Thank You
Eric

Oh, that is a great idea.
It is nicer to setup win2k as fat32 to work with other window stuff, and set a drive a aside for NTFS file system.
Can one partition a larger drive into both FAT32 and NTFS ?

Last time I spoke to a Microsoft Support chappie he advised me that the 4gb limit was an AVI limit not a file system limit.
Win98SE, ME etc. wont be able to use any type of file larger than 4Gb but WinNT and Win2000 running on an NTFS partition should be able to see larger files if they are in a format other than AVI.
Was he right or was he wrong? -
AVIs are limited to 4 GB if you don't use the OpenDML standard. FAT32 also has a 4 GB file size limit.
Sometimes the software you use can also limit you to 2/4GB. Try using AVI_IO or VirtualDub to capture a series seamlessly segmented AVIs if switching to NTFS hasn't helped.

No, there is no limit on AVI file. MS rep must B.S you. I convert people wedding tape to either VCD, SVCD.
Guess what I do:
1. Check the total time.
2. Set the capture time in Premier 6 (WIN2K, NTFS)
3. Capture 2 hrs = 25 Gb or more.
3. Convert to MPEG2 or MPEg1.
4. Burn, make label and get paid.
Simple like that. Never have a problem and get lots of referred customers. -
Tomcheung:
how the hell can your computer handle to 25 gig file?
I caputred a TV show...about 16 gigs (I'm running the same system as you)
when i tired to open my file, it crashed every app that i tried?
are u doing anything special???
Stuff.....is Good
