    About eight years to come to this, all in my limited free time.

    The transfer system itself runs in real time now.
    And the Avisynth restoring script runs at 4fps.

  11. Just curious, have you experimented with scanning the film rather than re-photographing it? Although more time consuming, I would have thought that would give a better/cleaner/more evenly lit result to work with?

    According to the text onscreen in the sample video, the originals were optically transferred. If the original has damage, bad color, etc., they will look the same when scanned.

    Dear Fred, first of all the color has improved dramatically but some results end like this. Please advise. Thank you.

    Hi Robert,

    What source is this? My script is not made for video!
    You do not need my script just to change the colors.
    ColorYUV(autowhite=true) is enough here.

    Anyhow, these artefacts are caused by the interpolation.
    Please use my other script without interpolation.

    Fred.

    Thank you for your quick response.
    About the source. This is a video taken(sony HD camera 60 fps) of a projected 8mm film on the wall. I used this script to eliminate flickering and improve color but as you can tell Im new, but willing to save all my family 8mm films. I will try your other script without interpolation. thank you.

    I tried video fred's script but struggeling with an issue.

    Hope anyone can help me.

    This script I use it's a part of the complete script:
    super= denoised.MSuper()
    backward_vec= MAnalyse(super, blksize=block_size, blksizev= block_size_v, overlap=block_over, isb=true)
    forward_vec= MAnalyse(super,blksize=block_size, blksizev= block_size_v, overlap=block_over, isb= false)

    interpolated= denoised.MFlowFps(super, backward_vec, forward_vec, num=numerator, den= denumerator, ml=100)\
    .sharpen(last_sharp,mmx=false).sharpen(last_sharp, mmx=false).blur(last_blur,mmx=false)

    With fast moving subjects there is a lot of distortion
    Any idea how to solve this?

    see uploaded video sample

    thanks, Jerome

    Hi Jerommeke,

    The distortion is caused by the interpolation.
    You can disable the interpolation by setting numerator to the same value as play_speed.

    Fred.
