  1. As a streaming DL beginner I have been trying to read the new posts to try to get up to speed.

Recently saw TVDownloader post https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/382423-YoutubeVideoDownloader-download-video-and-a...0-sites/page14 and decided to try.

Really liked it. The GUI is so much easier.

Worked perfectly when used to DL PBS NOVA metals https://www.pbs.org/video/nova-treasures-earth-metals/

Then tried to DL Xmovies8 MacGyver The Widowmaker https://xmovies8.yt/watch/macgyver-1490/?ep=57240 which I can stream OK but got Error Message 503.

1st thought problem was due to paused video so retried with the video streaming, same error 503.

Googled error 503 and found How to fix a 503 Service Unavailable error https://www.lifewire.com/503-service-unavailable-explained-2622940 "...Most of the time, it occurs because the server is too busy or because there's maintenance being performed on it."

In my case since I can watch the video stream, am wondering if TVDownloader is loading the server too much? I was surprised how fast the PBS downloads were.

Is there anyway I can reduce TVDownloader load on the servers?

Do not know what you mean by "Need access"?

Thought https://xmovies8.yt/watch/macgyver-1490/?ep=57240 was all you need since I can stream that show with it if I start the play button.

If not please explain in more detail or provide a link to something that does.

    Thanks for all your help!

Tried to install Streamlink but found need Win Adm Rights (do not have) so check for a portable version.

Found https://streamlink.github.io/install.html#windows-portable-version and tried both RosadinTV and Beardypig vers. neither worked. Do not know if problem me or PC?

What I need is something with GUI because am not good with command line.

Download the streamlink portable .zip on your desktop. (assuming you get it from here )
Right click on the archive and select "extract files". Hit ok.
Open the extracted folder and you'll see streamlink.exe there
While holding SHIFT key on keyboard press right mouse click anywhere in the folder, select "open command prompt here"
Copy and paste the code LZAA gave you.

If you're running Windows 10 and all you see is "open power shell here", then rename the folder from Streamlink_for_Windows_Portable_v1.0.0 to just Streamlink.
Hold Windows key (next to CTRL or FN key) and press "R" key (both together)
In the runbox type "cmd" without quotes and hit enter. CMD will open with something like C:\Users\yourname>
just type in there "CD Desktop\Streamlink" without quotes, hit enter.
Paste the code LZAA gave you.

    @KermitJ

You did everything correctly except you did not paste the full code. You need to call the streamlink.exe file. Don't just paste the .m3u8 url.
This is what you should paste in the CMD:

    Thank you for your patience

"You did everything correctly except you did not paste the full code." Just for the record, what is the full code?

"You need to call the streamlink.exe file." Am still confused how I go from the full code to Hold Windows key (next to CTRL or FN key) and press "R" key (both together)
In the runbox type "cmd" without quotes and hit enter. CMD will open with something like C:\Users\yourname>
just type in there "CD Desktop\Streamlink" without quotes, hit enter.

There must be a video somewhere that shows this? At least I can follow all the correct steps.

You can not believe how frustrating this is for a beginner which is why I like a GUI.

Starting out can any version of Streamlink Twitch GUI work? It does not matter if there are no options only that it works.

    streamlink.exe --http-header Origin=https://xmovies8.yt "https://xiao.smamuhh1metro.com/7q91EzxVobD2lubAo3p1odXtVdhq6HFFD3KpLSWF6SmF7UIK/0/playlist.m3u8" best -o video.ts
