  1. Dear Experts,

    Using MS Powerpoint 97, I've made a
    slideshow, and a PPS file.

    Note the Powerpoint version. 97.
There is no option to export the slideshow to video,
as there is in later versions.

I'd like to upload the slideshow to Youtube.

Which software can convert the PPT or PPS file into a video?

    Thanks a lot!

    No real clue, just guessing...

    a) a screen recorder?
    b) can OpenOffice / LibreOffice handle that?

Simple, open that PPS file up in recent PPT app, and then export as video. Newer versions of PPT have no issue reading older PPT files.

BTW, a "PPS" file is the same thing as a "PPT" file, except for the extension. PPT just expects to open PPT files in edit mode, and open up PPS files in slideshow run mode. So, you can always change the extension as necessary.

Also, I STRONGLY recommend you upgrade your PPT!
    '97 is like at least 6 versions behind (2000, 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016).

If you insist on using/keeping '97, you can always export to hi-rez* photo series and then use that series as an image sequence in any good NLE, exporting to video at whatever framerate & rez you choose.

<edit>If you want the timings & transitions, and don't want to upgrade, LigH.de is right, use OBS or some other screen recorder while the PPS runs.</edit>
