    Hi there people
    I wonder if you could help me please.
    A friend of mine in the US has an LG BD611 and a friend in the UK has purchased some region 2 DVD's to be played on this machine.
    I have looked in the user manual and can only find two references to region codes.
    I have checked several websites for "unlock codes" but can't find any.

    The question is am I right in thinking this machine is region free ?

    I have attached a copy of the user manual if it will be of any help.

    Unless it was purchased through a seller who specifically advertises and sells region free machines.... NO

    Even before Blu Ray, region free DVD playing out of the box was almost unheard of.....and with Blu Ray players (even though
    we are discussing DVD playback)....forget it.

    Playing PAL DVDs in America is NOT EASY. Never was.
    You have the region code issue to deal with AND video formats (PAL vs. NTSC) to deal with.
