No ideas?
I was thinking... could it be that the ATI video card I bought isn't fully "compatible" with Windows XP Pro? -
If you have GraphStudio try dragging your DV AVI file onto it's main windows. That will build a filter graph. You can look at the properties of each of the filters for hints about what's going on (right click on any filter and select Properties). Especially check the output of the DV decoder and the input of the renderer.
You can play the video from there by pressing the green play button. Does it deinterlace properly?Last edited by jagabo; 6th Apr 2011 at 23:29.

Ok... I ran the file through that program. Here's what it gave me:
-
render the file in graphstudio now , is it still ffdshow decoding or something else ?
-
Nothing happens when I open the file for rendering. Please forgive my lack of knowledge with these programs - I have never used them before now.
After I render the file, then what? Thanks. -
what do you mean nothing happens ?
By "render" what I mean is do the same thing you did before to create the graphstudio graph above in the screenshot (drag the video onto the window) or use file=>render media file
if you've disabled ffdshow correctly, then it should indicate another filter -
Start GraphStudio. Drag a DV AVI file onto the GraphStudio window. It will create a graph. Right click on the ffdshow filter and select Properties:
In the ffdshow properties dialog select Codecs in the left pane and disable DV AVI:
Drag the DV AVI onto the GraphStudio window again. The ffdshow filter should not longer show up:
"DV Video Decoder" is Microsoft's DV decoder, QDV.DLL. If ffdshow continues to show up I have no idea why. Check to see if it still shows as disabled. If not, try again. If it keeps coming back as enabled something is screwing with your system. -
Alright - now it shows "DV Video Decoder".
However - it still plays the same.
I wonder if installing the MainConcept DV Codec would fix it...?
-
Where? In GraphStudio? In WMP? In MPCHC? VLC? What rendering device shows up at the far right?
Doubtfull. -
It plays the same from within GraphStudio, VLC and WMP. The box at the far right shows "Video Renderer".
-
What about the AVI File Reader (left-most filter) and the AVI Splitter (the next filter)? If you right click and select Properties do they show quartz.dll as the filename?
Right click on DV Video Decoder and select Properties. Go to the XForm Out tab. In the VIDEOINFOHEADER2 section what does it show for dwInterlaceFlags?
Right click on Video Render and select Properties. Go to the VRM Input0 tab (or whatever Input0 is named). In the VIDEOINFOHEADER2 section what does it show for dwInterlaceFlags? -
In both the AVI File Reader and AVI Splitter filters, quartz.dll is the file specified.
In the VIDEOINFOHEADER2 section, it shows a value of 0x00000081 for dwInterlaceFlags.
In the Video Render box - Properties - VRM Input0 - VIDEOINFORENDER2 section, the value for dwInterlaceFlags is 0x00000081. -
It's got me out of ideas as well. I thank you for your efforts, though.

Have you checked the deinterlace setting in the renderer? You can do that in GraphStudio by right clicking on the Video Renderer, selecting Properties, then going to the Deinterlacing tab. Try setting it to Bob. In MPCHC you can do this by right clicking on the MPCHC window while playing then selecting Filters -> Video Renderer.
-
Sorry - I can't find a deinterlace setting trying either of the two paths you supplied. I went through the steps multiple times.

I appreciate all of your help. I don't know why my computer has to be so retarded.
