  1. For the hardware repair folks here:

Has anyone experienced sudden LOUD rewind noise from miniDV (or similar) decks? This is something i've ran into on a couple of my decks. I have a Panasonic miniDV deck as a rewinder only, and it's suddenly very loud on REWIND only. Seeing the same issue out of nowhere on one of my Sony DSR-25/45 decks, REW/FF very loud and gravely sounding, but playback smooth.

Is this a lubrication issue? The internals on these decks are so tiny and intricate, it's hard for me to diagnose, but I assume the same motor is used for playback and also REW/FF? Should I start looking into replacement motors for these, or is there a way to lubricate these?

    Thanks!

  2. Does it happen with all tapes? I've experienced this sort of thing if the tape housing is slightly warped or damaged.
