I had a nice 1600 MHz AMD thunderbird which ran very cool.
Then I got greedy and got a 2000 MHz which goes over 65 C.
The heat makes me nervous so I run it at 1200 MHz and only crank it up when I encode. -

Foo,
Doesn't make much sense to run your CPU at 100 MHZ for everyday use, and crank it up for processor intensive rendering.
You should go to AMD to choose a fan/sink that will lower the temps. And do use a good heat transfer paste.
You should get the max down to the low 50s, at least. -
Main PC: Athlon XP 2600 (2053Mhz) a bit overclocked... (@2700XP)
Second PC: Duron 1200. I love this one: Stable as a rock 2 years now!!!! Duron is the best CPU ever!
Third PC: Athlon xp 1700. Well, it is good for capturing....
I also have a good old P2@233 and a ZX Spectrum 128K (the original Sinclair model of 1986). I use to have an amiga for a while also (those were the days.....)
On my office, I only have a Pentium 3@500Mhz. Not bad for typical use...
As you see, I sourounded by PCs... Thanks god my girlfriend (semi-wife) don't have any problem with this.... (yeah I know, I'm a lucky Bast@#!) -
My future computer will P4, 3.0 GHz and this is coming soon.

I only have a 1.8. It's not the speed that counts, but how you use it!
Just what is this reality thing anyway? -
LOL - everyone is so funny today! :c))) Last few days it was bad moods or - maybe - full moon??!!
But I've laughed more today than I have in past weeks here!
Thanks :c)There's no place like 127.0.0.1
