Okay, so I have a friend who likes to capture HDTV. And sometimes he records stuff for yours truly.
Unfortunately, he only has a laptop at his disposal. And the audio signal coming through the HDMI cable is unfortunately only 2.0.
I really want him to be able to record true 5.1 sound. Now, after a bit of searching I did stumble upon this product here: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B005M19I0K
But as it is most every time, the specification info is a tad vague. What I'd like to know is, will it be able to capture 5.1 sound through the Optical in connection? And if so, will it just need the Optical in and then the USB in the laptop or will he need to connect more paraphernalia together?
Thank you for you guys' help in advance.
