Hi All,
I just purchased a new HTPC. I have a few questions. Running Vista Ultimate x86
1) Since there is currently no HDTV D** PCI Tuner Card, I will be using my D** R15 as my source. I have read that is has a native s-video output of 480i which I am fine with. My question is do I need to record programs to the R15’s HD and then playback with the s-video out cable feeding into the back of my Tuner card for me to get TV in MCE, OR can I plug in a cable to the s-video out of the dvr with a live feed and then feed it to my tuner card and get tv on my machine in real time?
2) Depending on the results from the question 1, what type of PVR card would one suggest for this use. I would like to have two streams coming into the MC. Is there a capture card or tuner card out there that will allow me to use my s-video out port on the dvr connected to my card and “split it into 2 live streams” via the cards hardware? Also something future proof would be nice too if a HDTV solution ever comes along. Hauppauge and ATI seem to be the leading candidates.
Thanks for any help!
