Help needed Jerky image on screen

I just came across this old forum post ( https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/341485-maximizing-picture-quality ) trying to find a solution to my problem. I have the exact same problem with the same TV.

So I received a TV as a gift. It's second hand LG 1080p stupid TV (not a smart TV) and when I play a movie (1080p x264) it seems like it's missing some frames or something. I'm not sure how to describe it. In action scenes or panoramas the image is jerky but the image is fluid on my laptop screen.

So I tried different players (potPlayer, VCL and MPC_HC), I tried reading from a different computer, tried reading from a different drive on the server, I tried different HDMI cables and many different movies and the problem persist.

Where would you start looking to fix this? Is it possible that the tv is broken? I feel like it's a configuration issue. Is it possible that a computer with a HDMI output struggle to output 1080p?

Does it do it with just a that video, or all? It may help with some suggestions if
you get the video details and post it here. In Windows, download mediainfo,
Open your video. Put it in view>text and upload all the details here

No it does it with any .mkv file I have. It feels like some are worst than others, but at some degree it's all the same. Even with YouTube I have the same issue.

Have you checked thne refresh rate of the TV? beng an old TV might not have the quickest

If I look up LG'S website with the model number it says 120hz https://www.lg.com/ca_en/tvs/lg-47LK520-lcd-tv I doubt it's 120hz, but it could be. Anyway, Windows 10 doesn't seem to detect it as a 120hz. The only options I have is 23.976hz, 24hz, 29.97hz, 30hz, 59.94hz(interlaced), 59.94hz, 60hz(interlaced), 60hz.

I also see that message: "Can't display HDR videos because codecs aren't installed." Does that matter?

I was just playing with the refresh rate and noticed the image is considerably smoother when I put lower resolution and lower refresh rate 720p at 24hz. The jerky effect is affected a lot by the TruMotion setting of the TV the De-Judder option. If set at 720, 24hz and level 3 of De-Judder it's almost good. It seem like it's a conflict between the TruMotion option of the TV and the output of my computer. Almost all other parameter combination create a jerky effect. I can't figure it out.

Have you tested it with Trumotion off?
Have you put the movie on a USB stick and see if the tv can play it directly?

TV can't play mkv. I tried every TruMotion settings possible.

Convert the MKV to MP4 in Avidemux ( copy the streams, no loss of quality) and try usb again

I did convert it to mp4. It seems fluid, but the file just keeps stopping and won't continue playing. The more I dig into this the weirder it is.
