In the north of Brazil, where I live, there are fungi and insects, which make the tape all snotty and stuck (it's a kind of bug goop). I do a water treatment but I have a lot of work to do.

Searching for an easier way to treat this, I saw on a Vhs group someone talking about that UV-C or ultraviolet light, a treatment using this. Does anyone have any knowledge about this?

    Haven't heard of this before.
Is this about exposing the actual tape itself to direct UV-C radiation or is it about exposing it to Ozone which is created by the UV-C?

Tape is made of plastic and UV rays generally deteriorate plastics, especially UV-C is very aggressive, so I would be very wary of exposing the tape to direct UV-C. Ozone would be rather harmless for the plastic though.
