  1. As i read from the dvdhelp website.. that enable to burn VCD onto DVD media and being able to play on standalone DVD player.. you will need to convert the audio from 44khz to 48 khz.. and it didn't say anything about video... and for SVCD i understand you basically do the same thing to audio and patch the header to fool the burning program to think it is DVD format mpg2...
My question is ::: Do you need to convert the VCD mpg video to be able to burn VCD on DVD-R media.. so do you just burn it as is.. with the converted audio

  2. Nope, just the Audio, the Video can be used as is, as the DVD supports it.

  3. it depends on wether you want a VCD on a DVD-R disc (its unlikely your player will recognise it !), keep audio at 44.1 but if you want to CONVERT a VCD to a DVD then the audio will need changing to 48 !

  4. A Little correction, it is VERY likely that the DVD will recognise it, since it's in the specs

  5. I do that (put VCD on DVD) a lot. Here's what works for me :

    1. Obtain VCD mpeg-1 files by whatever means. I use VCDGear command line in a batch file.

    2. Demux the mpg file using mpgtx (http://mpgtx.sourceforge.net)

    3. Transcode the audio to 48Khz/224Kbps mp2 using BeSweet (http://dspguru.doom9.net)

    4. Author using DVD Maestro

    5. Burn using Nero.
