  1. For the VCR or DVD I burnt on my Pioneer A06 DVR, it cannot be played on any stand-alone VCD or DVD player. Same thing happens even I upgraded the DVR firmware to version 1.06 and tried different authoring tools (e.g. Movie Factory 2, Record Now, Nero ... etc)

    My configuration is as follows:-
    P4-2.4GB, 80GB HD, Asus S8X-X, 512MB RAM, Win2000 SP4

Are you sure your player handles -R/-RW discs at all?

  3. How can I check if my VCD/DVD player can handle -R / -RW discs?
    Please advise.

  4. Also, if I just use the Pioneer A06 DVR to burn VCD, why do I still have the same issue (i.e. burnt disc cannot be played in VCD player)? Does CD-R has -R / -RW format too?

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

  5. Check to see if your player is in the list of players on this site and there you will find out if it is compatible or not.

You could also check a different player that you know palys VCD and DVD-R an see if they can play what you are trying to play.

Well, I was refering to the way things are expressed in CD terms.
There are CD (The one you buy in stores, mostly audio, but in regions VCD and SVCD are common too), CD-R (write once) and CD-RW (Write&erase).
In the same is true for DVD (even worse, as DVD forks out into 2 branches)
So, even if a player can play VCD, SVCD and DVD, it doesn't say that it can play these formats on CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW DVR+R/+RW
