I have many mts files that I need to change the container to another more user friendly type. I know that MTS can be converted to MKV but not sure if my mediatype encoding and sound supports that. Here is my mediainfo output for a sample file. I am seeking suggestions for container type to convert to and any recommendations on best practices.

As jagabo stated avc+ac3 is fine in both mkv and mp4 container, but pgs subtitle is compatible with mkv only, not with mp4.
For an easy container change use clever Ffmpeg-GUI, multiplexing section. -
I find mp4 getting more outdated than mkv, kinda like flac replacing mp3 even though most people won't hear the difference between mp3 and flac, just mp4 isn't as easy to use as mkv for adding subs and such.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
Thank all of you for your input and recommendations. I will try clever Ffmpeg-GUI, I was not aware of it although in the past I had used ffmped to do some simple cleaning, having a gui to simplify will be of great help.
