    Hello

I have an divx avi file with ac3 sound (5 channel) but i cant extract the sound to avi or convert it with tmpgenc. Because it has an unknown audio format. When i use avi2wav program to extract the sound to wav format, the sound gets very strange. And virtuadub doesnt work either, its complaining about unkonwn input sound format. I can play it when i double click on it (i have ac3 codec installed). What can i do here?

    Thank u for your help

I always convert to vcd because i prefer to watch videos on my DVD standalone player. I also discovered the same problem with TMPGEnc. But I was happy to find that NERO 5.5 converts avi's with AC3 encoded audio to VCD directly. NERO actually comes with an AC3 decoder. I came across an avi version of Easy Rider recently that had AC3 encoded audio, that's how I found out. Since VCD is MPEG, you could always rip the sound off the VCD after having burned with NERO... But it would it would help alot if someone knew where to d/l an AC3 decoder..
