I used to own a copy of Video Redo a few years ago to edit TV programs I recorded with my pvr-ready set top box (I paid about 40 bucks for the software.) Unfortunately, that was on a laptop which experienced data loss and Ive misplaced the serial number that was given to me for the software. So I downloaded a trial version and when that elapsed, I still retain the software on my computer but I can only do up to 15 minute edits.

This morning, I was using Video Redo to edit some music video clips I recorded from TV. Everything went well. No issues at all.

Later that day, I started up the software again to edit some more music video clips. However, this time around, Video Redo is cutting the clips short. Hard to say how much but could be around 15 – 30 seconds or so. Though I'm doing everything the same as before – no difference. I select the start point and the end point and then 'Add Selection' and 'Save As.' I do notice that small coloured screen (which shows details about the edited video like bitrate etc) is not appearing. That is meant to show up at the end of the export.

Would anyone know why it's not completing the export process?

You running out of space on the drive you use for export? Maybe look at the log files.

There's 77.2 GB free space left on the drive that I'm exporting to. And the music clips I'm editing are very short - about 3 - 4 minutes duration each. They are SD resolution. And I was only working on two of those clips when the problem started appearing.

Out of curiosity, whereabouts would I find the log files? I suppose some details might be included in that small screen that is meant to appear at the end of the export but that's not showing up.

Hmmm....I just tried another export and it worked normally. Don't know why it just started to behave properly all of a sudden. If it plays up again, I'll post the log files here.

  6. Report this on the Videoredo forum on their website. The support there is pretty good and the developers often get involved. Plus they may be able to help you recover your registration.

Thanks. I'll try joining their forum and see what they can advise.

It's starting to go bad again randomly.

Ive posted my issues on the Video Redo forum and I'm currently waiting for a reply there.

Last night, I did have some success with exports but it was very random and unpredictable. Today, Ive made so many attempts and each one ends in a partial export. Definitely not successful today.

By the way, Ive just found the original key number that I obtained when I purchased the software years ago. Though when I type in the number within the expired trial version that I have, I get this message: "The newly entered key is too old to be installed."

I mentioned that as well on the Video Redo forum. I hope I can play with the full version again one day.

Ive since found some other key numbers in relation to this software. There appear to be three different key numbers. And when I type each one into the expired trial version, I get different kinds of messages. When I typed the third one, the full version of Video Redo was restored!

Not only that, but when I tried an export with the full version, it was successful - I managed to get 100% of the edit I made. The first successful export of the day. Hmmm....I wonder if that's a coincidence or not? Don't suppose the expired trial version is deliberately buggy / unreliable? I'll have to do some more exports with this full version and find out.

Ive since exported a few more clips with the full version and it hasn't skipped a beat. So far, it's been very reliable unlike the expired trial version which is unreliable.

  13. Is it a full version or one of the betas? They keep the betas going for so long that they're usually more reliable than most other software's non-betas.
