    Hi all

    Sometimes I am confused as to what to convert an avi to. Sometimes it is obvious. But what about things like an avi of 640x480 @ 23.97fps, 640x520 @ 25fps, 512x384 @ 30fps, etc.

    Is there a general rule of thumb so to speak.

    It depends on the source, as you've found out.
    There are guides to convert footage to your countries standard, but for me it's....

    720 x 576 PAL 25fps (camcorder DV) and

    352 x 576 PAL 25fps (VHS and broadcast captures).
