I started Making VCD's for myself Today, and I'm fairly new at this. Here's my dilemma:
I had a Video in DivX format. After searching for a while, I finally found out how to convert it to an AVI format. After I did that, I converted to an MPEG-1 format, which is the standard for VCD's (I Hope).
After a few hous of converting, and burning, I popped it into my DVD / VCD Player. It plays for two seconds, and stops, and the VCD goes back to the main screen. I know all the Data is there because I tried scanning through the VCD, and it worked.
I'm just having the problem playing the VCD. The MPEG file plays fine on my comptuer, so I think it may be a DVD / VCD player problem.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? What do you do to fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I'm going to put some additional information that you guys might find helpful:
DVD Player : Pioneer DV-C503
CD-R's I Burned it on: DuraBrand 80 Min 24X Multispeed
Some Problems I encountered - When I got the stuff off of my Camcorder, it was in DivX format. Split it into two using Virtual Dub. Converted to Regular AVI. The First Half Converted Just fine, the Second Half I got on error. I dont remember what it was but here's something:
"ACM error in Audio" and it stopped. I lost the last 10 minutes of the movie. Oh Well, I thought.
Or something like that... I converted into MPEG-1 Format using tmpgenc (The MPEG Encoder)
I encoded the first 10 minutes of the movie, and then burned it Using NEMO. That's the problem above.
I finished encoding the rest of the movie. Both Parts. I want to Burn it onto a CD, but if it's not going to work, I don't want to waste CD's. Any suggestions?
Just to Recap: The MPEG, AVI and MPEG4 Plays fine on my computer...
Thanks! -
Hi Ficsh
You might try burning at a slower speed.
I use cd-rw's for testing.
Does your vcd play ok in your cd rom drive?

Yea, it plays fine in my CD-Rom Drive...
Do you mean, like the .dat file? It works fine.
I tried burning at a slower speed. Didn't change anything.
Wonder what the problem is...
Thanks for ur help. -
are you using tdk discs? they are know to have problems, try a different brand.

Some cheap 100 pack brand called 'Durabrand'
I also tried a Memorex CD-RW... didn't work -
when burned at slower speed you did do 8x or slower, correct? Also try in another DVD player maybe a Sampo, APEX, Daewoo, most places will let you try them out, circuit city, best buy, Sams club.
did you encode as VCD compliant?
