I have an old Tosiba Dvd's files. I want to convert to movie file any format to run on computer. I downloaded software to rip but nothing seems to recognise the movie files so I am unable to capture them.

Any ideas or programs to recommend

Hi thanks for replying. It is a Toshiba DVD Recorded dvd. I am sorry about the spelling mistake. Old Computer.
Yes, I have finalised it. But my computer does not recognise a file on the DVD. Which is weird. As I can see it on my camcorder and the Toshiba Recorder I transferred it to.

Only Toshiba have discontinued this product and I just want to preserve what I have.

And thanks to the moderator for placing this on the correct thread for me.

    Still in training.

    What you mean by that?
Did you see DVD files on computer but you cannot open them or convert?
Or computer cannot recognized DVD and you see as Blank/empty DVD or don't detect insert DVD at all?

Sorry typo error it should read Toshiba DVD 160RD this is the machine I recorded programmes on. But it is now obsolete which is why I wanted to preserve what I have already recorded. I want to convert them onto my computer only the disks do not seem to registered any information on them when I put it in the computer. Is there any conversion files that would recognised a Toshiba DVD recording? And convert it to say Windows Movies?

Will you computer play regular retail store bought DVDs
Does it have a DVD drive or does it only play CDs
The PC has to have a DVD drive to see the files on the DVD disc
DVD and CD are the same side but a DVD from your Toshiba contains 7 times the amount of data in a different format then CDs
You might need to get and external DVD drive and connect via USB to read/play these discs

Hi thanks for replying. Yes I would like to play (recorded dvds). It is not a cd player. But a DVD. problem is the Toshiba machine RD160 is a DVD Rewritable recorder Toa. And it is now obsolete and (Now sadly broken), which means I have all these files that I have recorded on DVD-RWs which I cannot watch. I have tried putting them my pc but although it also writes DVD-RW's it does not recognise anything on the RD160 discs. Says in fact that it is blank and would I like to format it. I would prefer to re-format them so I can Play them on the pc.
    - Any ideas?

You want to 'convert' to something useful, t to do this you needed to be able to play the discs as they are now,

Do NOT reformat on the PC, that will erase the disc

If the files are currently on discs, which seems to be the case, try ISOBuster to extract them to the hard drive.
