Nobody worried about crap at the edges of the frame in the analog days because the outer ~5 percent of the frame couldn't be seen on TVs. See "overscan".

Actually, you probably won't see it on a modern TV because TVs continue to overscan by default. If the problem is happening with all LD caps but not other caps that points to a problem with the LD player. You can always crop or mask it away.

That's probably not the right fix but there aren't enough colors/intensities to say for sure. -
If you know enough about tv's you will not have any over scan so it will show.For what it's worth i wouldn't worry about it.
