I just got my burner and I tried burning 1 8x dvd-r at MAX. THe burn ended up being <6 minutes, which is about 16x.
Is there a reason I should not burn at 16x? I hear that quality comes w/ slower burns, but is this really the case? I can burn at 8x for now on, but I would like to burn at 16x if there is no problems. Let me know the pros and cons. Thanks

Scan your disc with Nero CDspeed and compare the results for different burn speeds. A disc with less errors, should stay readable longer i.e. as the number of scratches increases a disc's readability decreases, combined with burn errors a disc can become un-readable.
