  1. over 200 original dvd (box sets for 1 : 10 box sets) (most bought 1euros50, and nearly 50 as gift from the computer shop around the corner, 100cd bought 10 dvd free )
over 200 copied dvd (most on rw so it won't grow very much)
    over 1000 vcd-svcd-avi
    and 10 original vcd

I'm wondering if like me, you 'collect' movies for fun or if you watch every title you get.

Yep, same here -- although I've slowed down quite a bit recently.

Now -- well over 5000 videotapes and four or five hundred laser disks. At this point (late) in my life I do *not* want another format to come along <g>.

  3. Original DVDs? Only about 100.
Satellite PPV movies on DVD? I'd say about 350-400.

(Now if we were talkin' audio CDs? Wow.)

I don't buy movies just to have them, I only buy movies that I would like to have and watch. And I have watched every one of my movies.

  7. Here's a question. What are those of you w/ a large DVD collection using to keep them in? I have been using my entertainment center, but it only holds 100 dvds. Now my collection is growing, but I have nowhere to put the new movies.

Is anyone storing their collection in any kind of interesting way?

  10. I've around 200+ DVDs and I store them over the fireplace on the mantle.

I've only got about 30 laserdiscs left as I have been selling off the one's that come out on DVD.

    I've around 300 VCDs.

VHS is miniscule in comparison, as soon as I knew that DVD was here to stay, the whole VHS collection got sold and money invested in DVD.

    Hi peoples..

    @ TYPO..
You still should've inlcluded a >100 ..cause there ARE SOME people that
actually DO go out and spend the $$ for movies, at the cost of these DVD these
days, it don't pay to rent as often any more.. unless (those) are doing
    something else altogethre

I definately have well over a hundred now. And, now that some stores are
now reduing their prices ie, Wal-Mart and even K-Mart, @ ~$5.88 is too good
a price to ignore.. and definately compares to Movie rental prices. Hmm...

Lets see, last time I rented a movie, price comparitables were:

    * Store[~$5.00] vs. rental[~$4.00]

Now, last week I bought (add that to my count) FOUR dvd movies, at
$5.88 vs. $20 for ONE movie!!
And, these are good movies too!! "the gauntlet", "joan of arc", "dangerous liaisons"..
to name a few. Makes me wonder about the conspericies w/ the pricing of
these DVD movies. What gives ? Anyways..

Also, most NEW dvd titles are usually starting @ $16 and up. I do get these
too, when I really want them. I've spect $60 the week before that LOL

I still buy VHS movies too

    TGIF everyone!!

  14. I have about 20 DVDs. I use http://www.netflix.com and so I end up with a new movie in the mail every few days. Also, one of my good friends has over 500 DVDs so I can always borrow from him . I wish I actually had time to watch all these movies!

My DVD movie collection is well over 300 now and the videotapes are just about gone with only a handful of Betamax and VHS musicvideos left.

I just ordered the Godfather Trilogy to replace the old VHS tapes of same movies. After that, I only got "Firefox", the very last VHS movie I got. No more VHS forever.

My LD collection is also going and maybe gone by christmas. The DVD is taking over everything except the VCR recording of TV for timeshifting.

The problem with TV is too many ads and because of this I may not bother viewing the TV recorded videotapes.

Anyway, I am addicted to the computer and the DVD.

Hmm, thinking about it, i surprise myself here... i now have maybe 12 or 15 actual legit DVDs (what can I say.. i'm a bit poor.. would like to up that) and a similar handful of VHS

VCDs, now.. ten months ago it was on about an even keel with the legit tapes as they are now.. just getting things that couldn't be otherwise had or were £80 a throw, stopgapping til an official import came along, and a couple things from brother or friends. Nothing that was going to shake the world apart. Now what can i say in my defence against the blockbuster-threatening at-least-two-full-(cheap)-spindles stack of mostly unwatched movies in the bedroom than; I went to university, and there was a LAN connection.. and i often had alcohol and lost the inhibitions There's probably more things on those little shiny circles than on the tapes in my tombstone-esque box of home recorded VHSs

slap my wrists and call me sheila for the naughtiness.. a lot of them look to be reputedly crap films and so may become frisbees. if there ever turns up a gem then it'll be worth a purchase, hopefully (similarly to the mp3 situation), and at the least I can hope to turn up a rare goodie that might otherwise have escaped attention.
The generally nasty VHS-to-LD spec conversions on them are ok enough for a spin to see what the film's like on a monitor or 14" screen, but full DVD quality/features are worth the money (commendations especially to the BBC here).

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

what do you know - you don't even appreciate humor in Latin

you might be right - I picked it up unseen for $6, since I've heard about it for 20 years but have never watched it... I needed something to fill out a "3 for $20" deal at Best Buy and that was the best of a bad lot of choices...

I'll let you know after I've watched it.

Same here. I bought it because I had heard so much about it, but it was a huge disappointment. I returned mine and got my money back. I was expecting a horror movie, but was deceived.
