I installed the K-Lite full pack on a brand new Vista installation. I have .mov files from a Kodak camera. They play in WMP, but are only seekable if I change the extension to .m4v. Also, I can't get audio in either extension. I ran MediaInfo and it says the audio is ADPCM and uses the ulaw codec. I'd like to use only WMP and avoid installing Quicktime. Can this work?

  2. Set uncompressed audio support in ffdshow audio decoder configuration.

Or use other player: The KMPlayer, SMPlayer, VLC.

And/or if You have installed QuickTime (or QuickTime Alternative), just use Media Player Classic instead QuickTime Player.

It is likely a codec configuration issue and you now have a boatload of unneeded codecs in your system so another media player or two is no big deal.

Anyway, K-Lite likely already installed MPC with Quicktime alternative and RealPlayer alternative, so Quicktime shouldn't be needed.

  4. I'm think it's rather splitter issue...

Example... Haali Media Splitter support MP4/MOV (if have H.264/AVC wideo), but not handle DVI IMA ADPCM audio.
On the other hand... MP4 Splitter (Gabest) support MP4/MOV and can handle this audio.
