I was wondering if anyone out there could help me out. I'm looking for the drivers for an HDR-FX7 Mini DV camera. I'm using Windows 10 and Vegas 16 Pro. It had worked in the past. My firewire card is working. I downloaded the FAM drivers off of the Sony site and it now sees the camera but there are no drivers available to operate the camera so I can move the video from the camera to the computer for processing. Any ideas would be welcome.

AFAIK Scenalyzer has basic control over a DV source and you then use that program for the transfer from the tape.

afaik the hdr-fx7 was an HDV cam. NO drivers needed to use with windows over firewire. you need to use HDVsplit to transfer the data on the tape to your computer as long as it was recorded in HDV. it could record in dv, in which case winDV would be used to do the transfer, again no drivers needed.

Thanks for the reply. I tried both of your suggestions without success. Windows 10 device manager tells me that I need the drivers for my camera.

No, I don't have an XDcam. Are there any other avenues I can try?

Your mistake is you installed the wrong drivers and wind 10 is defaulting to them, you need to remove them or restore your windows, Another member is having the exact same problem with a DV device that he installed the USB drivers first not knowing how firewire works, Firewire drivers are part of the OS.

  8. Hate to complicate matters, but sometimes you will have to download windows legacy Firewire driver. I had to do that for Win 7. Don't know about Win 10.

if you check the device driver and it says anything but microsoft, something's wrong. you can delete the driver, re-boot and let windows find the new device and install it's included driver. i've never had to change any firewire driver other than the standard one in winXP, win7 or win8.1, i can't speak for win10 as i refuse to use it.

Thanks for the replys. I just reloaded Windows 10. The firewire card is working and my device manager sees my camera but I have a warning next to the camera. I would love to delete the drivers that are there and reload the proper drivers but I do not have access to the drivers I need, that is my original query, I need the proper drivers. Sony no longer supports my camera.
