  2. Maybe not the best way, but this is how I would probably do it.
    Converting to WMV:
    Use MPEG Streamclip to convert to DV-AVI, then open in Windows Movie Maker to convert to WMV (this is assuming you can't import the MP4 directly into WMM)
    Converting to MPEG:
    Use DVD Flick to create VOB then use VOB2MPG or TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert VOB to MPG.
    At least that's the way I would do it.

    Windows Media Encoder to encode to WMV (perhaps with AutoMKV as a frontend), Xvid4PSP to encode to Mpeg-2

    The latest version of AVStoDVD (free) has 'Muxed MPEG2 File' as Output Setup option.
