  1. I have a (hopefully not stupid) question.

I have recorded a 3D movie from TV (Sky). It was originally SBS and I converted it to a 'frame packed' movie and burned it to Blu Ray.

    This all worked beautifully.

Now I had the idea that I swap a the non MVC video track for the video track of the Blu Ray to get a better quality.

However, the result does not play. The 3D Blu ray starts and freezes at the first frame. I can skip through the chapters and fast forward (with picture). But normal play does not work.

Is it even possible to do what I have in mind?

Frame-Packing is an HDMI transmission construct format, NOT a storage file format. Some have attempted to store it in that format, but almost NO applications support it, much less BD3D devices.

You are better off using the original SbS, as that is:
    1. An allowed BD3D storage format
    2. An allowed HDMI 3D transmission format
    3. One less generation of loss (both in the resizing interpolation and in the lossy re-encoding).
