I'm ripping my Thunderbirds DVDs to MKV so that I can watch them on my NVidia Shield, and have completed all the movie disks. The one final disk is the Companion disk which is like the background info on the episodes, the explanations of each of the Thunderbirds machines, the making, original artwork, etc. I'm having issues ripping this disk.

I can play the DVD as a normal DVD in VLC, all the videos play well. However, if I try to play the VOB files individually, the video is "broken up" and unviewable and the sound cuts out every few seconds. Here's a screenshot.

I tried copying the VOB files to my computer but i still get the same issue.

    Anyone know what's going on?

  2. Is the DVD defective?
That seems to be a reading problem with the DVD drive.
Try the rip on another computer.

You sure it's just not some kind of protection - the VOB's are encrypted ?

Is this coincidence? Couple of years ago, I had an issue with ripping a friend's PAL Thunderbird dvd's and one of the (full-disc) ISOs could not be played with VLC.
Where it did play in another player (I think it was PotPlayer). Maybe related to your issue?
