    Hi all. New to site and looking forward to getting educated. I use the mini dv format (canon xl-2) and am looking for a playback deck (or even camcorder) that does not cost an arm and a leg. Its a real hastle to use one of my bigger cameras as a player. Suggestions?

    about the only non-used cam you could get is the canon hv40. you'd get an HD cam to boot.

    miniDV decks start over a grand and wouldn't be as useful as the hv40 which if you put in cinema mode matches up rather nicely to gl-2/xl-2 output as a secondary cam.
