I have read somewhere that you can use ac3 filter to encode aac 5.1 to ac3. I am currently using media player classic and am using spdif passthrough. Can anyone tell me if using ffdshow or ac3 filter is even possible when using windows 7? If so, can you tell me how to enable it using media player classic? I have downloaded the Windows 7 codec pack which includes ffshow as well as ac3 filter but cannot get them to work with any media player.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

You might have to use Preferred Filter Tweaker and enable ffdshow or ac3filter as the default decoder for ac3. Then adjust the settings in those apps.

Will Preferred Filter Tweaker apply to Windows Media Player as well?
