  1. Any really good DVD-Rs around 8X that are compatible with the DD0401 (1.5 firmware so it says 8X -R)?

I ran a search but didn't see any.
    Thanks,

    Pete

Wow, you sure do have a lot of questions about your Optorite drive. I would say that you should try the Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-Rs. If those don't work, then I don't know what will.

  3. Hi psal2,

For a list of support 8x media disc (based on the media code) see http://www.optorite.com/_english/web/1_product/2_spec.php?hID=2 .

Scroll down and you will see a link for the media. The file is in Excel Format, but a PDF will be posted later. If you are unable to view the file, please contact me at support@optorite.com .

If you are unable to get to the link above, do this (make sure to use IE):
    a. Go to http://www.optorite.com/
    b. Select the U.S. and then select Product Info or New Product.
    c. Select the DD0401 drive, and then the specification link.
    d. Scroll down and you will see the link for the list.

    Thank you,
    OptoRite Support

Tell ya what, why don't you ask a big media store what to use? Also of them list what works with what media at what speed with what firmware.

Have not tried that firmware or drive. I currently use FW-260E in my DD0201. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't upgrade your firmware to Optorite's latest. Just my opinion. Make sure to look out for DMA-being-disabled issues when you upgrade.
