  1. Is it possible to install VapourSynth on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite?

Ultimate goal is to use QTGMC in Hybrid.

Started reading this: https://forum.selur.net/showthread.php?tid=1279 which references not passing 10.14 but I don't know if older versions are also ok.

Searching Google keeps leading me here: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=175522 which references 10.12 (also, scrolling down this page makes me think this might be over my head)

Have you tried compiling Vapoursynth yourself?
    see: http://vapoursynth.com/doc/installation.html#linux-and-os-x-compilation-instructions

Running Hybrid with Vapoursynth on Mac OS X 10.10:
I strongly doubt it's possible without:
    a. running it inside a virtual machine.
    or
    b. me personally spend time to setup a Mac OS X 10.10, adjust current source code of Hybrid to be compatible with 10.10 and then send time to compile all the tools Hybrid uses for 10.10. So even for me this would be a project for quite a while. So you without having access to the source code have no chance in this direction.

    Another problem:
Hybrid for Yosmite was never build with Vapoursynth support which was added in the second half of 2016 at which time Sierra (10.12) was used, so even if you got your hand on an old Hybrid build which would run on Mac OS X 10.10 it wouldn't support Vapoursynth.

=> only way I see this working would be to run Hybrid inside a virtual machine which at least runs with Windows 7, there current Hybrid Windows release should run fine.

Ps.: bootcamp with Windows 7 would also be a way.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Appreciate it!

I’ve gone another route and acquired a PC running Windows 7 so I should be much better off with that. I haven’t had a chance to install everything yet but I am sure it will be a lot easier than wrestling with the Mac.

  4. On a Windows system all the main tools come with Hybrid (stuff like NeroAacEnc, fdkaac,..) can't be added due to license restrictions, but QTGMC should work out of the box.
