Video of figure skating

Hello,
I make videos of my daughter an other kids when they are figure skating.
Right now I'm taking the video's with my smartphone (a samsung s22 ultra) and I want to go one step further.
I'd like to use an external microphone but I do not know if I need to use a uni-directional or an omni-directional mic?
And preferred mics for this purpose?

What you want to hear will determine what type of mic you use. A unidirectional mic will "head" more of what it's pointing at, less of the surrounding sounds. An omnidirectional mic will hear sounds from all around the mic more equally. In both cases sounds closer to the mic will be louder than sounds farther away.
