help with vcd

when I burn a mpeg with easy cd creater 5, the disc just has folders on it. Is that why dvd cant read it?? I have a ge 1105p. It says that it will play vcd.I use memorex cd-r.
silver and blue.please explain from start to finish.Im wasting to many cd,s

Double check you player if it supports Cd-R/CD-RW. Even if it says it'll play VCD but what you're recording on is CD-R/CD-RW. Also, use Cd-RW for your testings. Testing on CD-R is only wasting your money. Jordan
