  1. Can you give me the best program to use to capture Dv from my camcorder. I use firewire to get in on my hardrive but i am looking for a software program that allows me to create clips of all different sizes and take out the sound and add music. What do you think would be the best program? thanks for any suggestions

  2. Different programs can do this. It depends on you budget:

    Among them:
    Ulead Video Studio 7.0
    EditStudio by Puremotion
    Vegas 4.0
Windows Movie Maker 2.0 (free with XP, not great but it works for basic stuff).

They have trial versions. I would personally pick between EditStudio and Video Studio.

  3. I like EditStudio3 from www.puremotion.com to do the capture
(free trial & capture still works after trial period has expired).

I then do simple edits & encode using TMPGEnc/PLUS and author using Ulead DVD MF2.
DVDMF2 can do the capture, but I just like the capture interface of EditStudio3 better.

  4. I use the capture program that came with Edit Studio 2 which came free from a PC magazine and am very happy with it. I had a look at Edit Studio 3 and felt that this there were too many bells and whistles on it.

  5. I use Scenalyzer Live! It only captures, but you can choose what format you wish to capture in(for Premiere or MediaStudio 6 etc.). Last night I capped 15gigs w/o a single dropped frame, and this was on my laptop while I was browsing windows explorer. I use Tmpgenc or Cinema Craft to encode to the appropriate mpg stream. At least give it a try, I think youll like it!
