  1. Greetings all, this is my first post around here, great site, great community spirit, overall just a very helpful place to have found!

OK, ive been encoding VCD now for about 4-5 weeks, im still a newbie but have managed to encode about 30+ VCD's so far.

But their is one thing with DivX that I cant get round, and its really confusing me. The vast majority of DivX I have converted to VCD have been fine, its just a handful of movies I can't get the Audio sync correct in.

I have been using Virtual Dub for audio, and TMPGenc for Visual. I have noticed that some files depending on the VBR (not really sure what that is) require the WAV file to be proccessed in Full Processing Mode or Direct Stream Mode on Virtual Dub, using one of these two modes I have been successful with audio and sync with DivX to VCD, but a few movies will not stay in sync on either of these settings...

For example I have Men in Black 2 as a Divx rip. No matter how I try and convert the audio, i can not get the audio and lip sync to stay together for the entire movie. Full Proccessing the WAV means it goes out about 1 hour in, and Direct Stream Proccessing it means its out from the start. I have tried several times to encode this movie, with no luck at all..

I also have the same problem with DivX rips of Ice Age, Dont say a Word and Final Destination.

As i say its only a handful of movies I have not been able to encode.

Basically what im asking is why this happens? and what can I do about it?

    Thanks!!

    Possible causes:
    • Bad frames in Video -> Sudden out of sync at a specific point in the movie.
Solution: Scan for, and remove bad frames with VDub

Movie is encoded at another frame rate than original AVI -> Sync gets increasingly worse during movie
Solution: Use correct frame rate or follow a frame rate conversion guide

Audio stream doesn't "align" with video stream -> Sync is off to start with, and stays that way thruout the movie
Solution: Apply audio offset in TMPGEnc
    ...and any combination of above!

There are lots of sync guides here at VCDHelp!
