  1. I got a $100 AUD capture card yesterday, for the purpous of capturing simpsons episodes untill i can Buy the DVD's of the series(they only released 2 out of 13 sets)

    The card is
    LifeView FlyVideo 3000
it has FM Radio, TV Tuner, AV In SVideo in and a remote control.
I say its an ok card for $100, but the software is the downside.
I want a peice of software where i can enter in the Station Frequency as i know their exact frequencies and the software just want to search for it, producing bad quality video and somtimes missing channels.
At the moment i use AV out from the TV into the card to achieve best quality as the TV can tune in so easily.

Is there any good capture programs that would support my card.

Simpsons is my life, thats why i want to buy all the DVD's but now i can only Rip em, Downlaod em and put em onto SVCD.

    thanks
    Cummings
I was born to watch every simpsons episode.
I have done that and now need to get them all on DVD.

Not about the Simpsons - I love that show as well
but for falling for the flyvideo like I did
do yourself a favor and put it back into it's box and either throw it out the window -or- like I did use it as a model aircraft stand - which it does poorly

This card uses a crappy Phillips SAA-blah chipset that has almost ZERO thirdparty support - especially with WDM drivers that XP needs

There are plenty of places that sell Brooktree or Conexant based Tuner cards here in Australia
Brooktree or Conexant based cards work properly with XP and will allow fullscreen captures to be done.

  3. aye, i figured that it was pretty bad.
but it shal do for now as a cheap $100 card untill me gets some more funds.
It took 16 gig to record 30 mins of tv, pretty good quality..but 16 gig.

i fixed the 2 capturing programs I had, 1 the AVI's were verticly challenged(inverted) and mpegs just diddnt want clear sound. but i fixed that.

A fool I am. Thanx anyways.

  4. The Phillips SAA chipset isn't so bad as some of you claim, actually it beats any brooktree, Conexant chipset. Your main problem is the capture software from flyvideo which was always less than what it should be, but some commercial software like Intervideo WinDVR and Cyberlink PowerVCR might give you some more control and quality of your TV card. I suggest you to try one of these softwares.

    WinDVR: http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Product_Download.jsp?p=WinDVR
another good software called fly2000: http://auzol.narod.ru/index_e.html
