  1. Google Weather forecast is no more. Please help me restore Google Weather forecast. Please note. If you can suggest another forum to post this question, please tell me. I've tried repeatedly Android Central forum, but cannot post (says spam).
I am not using a Google Weather app or widget.
I am using a Android 5 (the phone I have cell service) and Android 11 ( wifi only) phone and cannot install any such app or widget. I don't want any app or widget. I simply want to type in the Google search , for example, "Columbus Ohio weather", and see the Google Weather forecast, like for many years in the past. I don't want to use another weather source, for example weather.com because with Google Weather I can see everything I want with one click and no need for scrolling. Google Weather forecast is more accurate than weather.com. I have tried everything, installing the latest browsers that will go on the Android 5 phone - Google Chrome, Firefox, Kiwi. I have tried clearing browsers and phone cache. Also tried "request desktop version". I also have Android 12 (wifi) and Windows 7 and still have the traditional Google Weather (thank God). Question: is there an app I can put on my Android 5 phone to make Google think I am on Windows? Then I think I will be able to access Google weather forecast. Please look at the following two screenshots. First screenshot (Android 5) is Google Weather with forecast gone. Only the current temperature is shown. Almost useless to me.
Second screenshot is the traditional Google Weather, (Android 12) very, very useful to me.
Also look at graph showing temperature change throughout the day. Extremely convenient. I can see what I want to know in less than a second.

I also have an Android phone, with the US version of Android 11 installed. If I type "google weather columbus ohio" onto the Google search box, I see the weather for Columbus Ohio.

If I just type "google weather" into the Google search box, a page showing the weather forecast for my home address's zip code appears.

Google's weather search seems to be almost idiot-proof. Are you perhaps using a bootleg version of Android on a cheap knock-off phone?

[Edit]I forgot to mention that my phone was set up to use my home wifi for calling and data when I tested Google weather. My mobile phone is nothing fancy. It is a 2021 Motorola, which cost under $200 when new.

  4. I have LG Android 5 phone. Had and using for over 10 years. Just last month Google Weather forecast is gone. I only get temperature. See above screen shot. Tried different wifi sources, and phone data, different Google Search, like columbus ohio weather, columbus ohio weather forecast, columbus weather etc. Result only shows temperature, no forecast. Also the same for searching Google Weather for other cities.

Maybe the version of Google search currently installed on your phone is too old to work with Google's current weather search. You may need to update Google search to a newer version.

    1. Open the Play Store app.
    2. Touch the Search button at the bottom of the page.
    3. Type "Google" in the "Search Apps and Games" search bar.
    4. Select the "Google" search engine from the results.
    5. If you see an "Update" button, then there is a newer version of Google available to install on your phone. (Presumably, Google knows the latest version of an app that is compatible with your phone.)
6, Just click on the "Update" button to download the new version and start the installation.

I updated my phone with a new version of Google search using the above procedure. It worked just fine.

DuckDuckGo will also work, but you must specify that you want to use Google weather and provide a location.

  8. I can't install apps from or access Google Play Store on Android 5. I've tried duckduckgo search "google weather columbus ohio". The screenshots posted by others are not Google Weather. Below, I have posted the screenshot in my first post (from Android 12) and circled in red "Google Weather". Notice the graph in yellow that shows temp. Download the screenshot and expand if you want to see it clearly. The second below screenshot is from my Windows 7 computer, again with "Google Weather" circled in red. If you click
"Google Weather" inside the red circle, it explains how Google gets the weather data. (see screenshot 3 for partial display.) Also, on the Google Weather display, if you click "Precipitation", you get a very clear graph that shows the likely chance of precip. (see screenshot 4).

    Try this:

    1. Open DuckDuckGo
    2. Type "google.com" in the DuckDuckGo search box and press the arrow button. (This takes you to the Google.com website)
    3. Type "weather" or "weather columbus ohio" in the Google.com search box and press the search button. (magnifying glass)

If this doesent work, I don't know what else to suggest.

  10. You can't beat Google. I suspect they are coming out with a pay version of Google Weather and slowly eliminating the free one.
    I tried above Jagabo suggestion:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=Columbus+Ohio+weather
I tried in Google Chrome, Firefox and Kiwi, and get lots of weather sites, but Google Weather absent.
I tried goduckgo app (for Android 5) and just plain goduckgo with no app, and searched for columbus weather, google weather columbus, etc. No go.
Google Weather still works on my Android 12 and Windows 7, for now.
As far as my Android 5, I'll just have to try to get used to one of the other weather sites.

After looking for info on the EOL date for Android 5, it appears the real problem is that Android 5 itself is long obsolete and no longer maintained. It reached its end of life in 2018, and lost access to the Play Store in 2024. Most mobile phones don't last for 10 years. Consider yourself lucky to have had it for so long. (A lifespan of 5-8 is typical. However, most people upgrade to a newer phone well before their phone dies.)

Since there are no more security updates, Android 5 is vulnerable to hacking and malware. You should seriously consider getting a newer phone.
