  1. I am looking to capture some TV and convert it to a DVD for playback on my standalone DVD player and was wondering which of the following would give me the best playback quality.

    I could capture in

    720x576 25fps and 4000kbits/sec or

    352x576 25fps and 7000kbits/sec

Both are DVD resolution, but one has a high bitrate, the other a high resolution. Bearing in mind that there are some fast motion/explosion scenes, I was wondering what would give the best quality.

    I would appreciate your thoughts.

    Many thanks,
    Kevin.

    hi
Don't u have any custom settings on your software????
    I use 720x576 pal 750 bitrate on PowerVCR2.
Or DVD Pal on WinDVR2 which is 720x576 about 6/7000 bitrate.

  5. Thanks for the advice guys. Bearing in mind what pharlap says, any thoughts as to what the best capture card to use would be ?

I am curently using a WinTV PVR which is giving me quite good results (but admittedly I don't have anything to compare it against). Could I be getting better results with a different card ?

    Cheers,
    Kevin.
