Grabbing episode streams from This Old House

If yes, you can get the full command with The Stream Detector add-on and download just fine with yt-dlp.

Hey all,

I ripped all of ToH back before the URL switch but wanted to get AskToh and The New Yankee Workshop and couldn't manage until I came upon this thread.

So a HUGE thanks to everyone.

And because of all the instructions I put together a txt file for each season of both shows with the URL for each episode so that you can batch download all that season's episodes with youtube-dl.

Attached are zips of the txt files for both shows. I split them up into seasons and you'll have to do each season separately and then manage those files otherwise it all ends up a jumbled mess as there are no episode numbers in the files...

They have more episodes available from the inside this old house membership. I’m hoping someone has an automated way of grabbing them as it would take awhile to do them one by one.

I am still working on the next set of batch files for Season 20 of Ask This Old House and season 43 of This Old House. For some reason these seasons just won't end. They are at 30-something episodes for each show this year for some reason.

I did find 3 episodes of ATOH and one so far for TOH where I could not get the ID for the video stream that works with these batch files. These videos seem to be doing something differently.

Normally with the videos when you hit F12 and and check the network activity, you see something along the lines of the following:

With these specific videos there is no similar item with the .ts file in the list.

None of the values contained in there seem to work. So if anyone knows how to deal with these it would be great if they could let me know. Otherwise the best way to grab those episodes is with Internet Download Manager and it's browser extension.

Slightly off topic (but not too much). I watched a bunch of these over the holiday break. The quality of the production has gone down since about the 2019-2020 seasons. Some of the best segments from earlier seasons had much more explanation and detail. Now they play music over a lot of it and rush through it. Plus, they ditched the opening themes for much inferior alternatives. I guess they needed to modify the shows for the short attention span generation.

The older seasons are gold though. Thanks for the tips in this thread.
