My operating system is Ubuntu 12.04.

So I have the Sony HDR SR11 composite out connected to a Sabrent USB-AVCPT Grabber
which plugs into my PC via USB.

I have tried the following tools and have been successful in viewing video:
  1. Webcamstudio
  2. Camorama
  3. Guvcview
  4. Gsteamer-properties

I have also tried Yahoo Messenger. I had to change a video setting in preferences to "composite" and then
I could see my video.

I could not see my camera video with Skype. WebRTC is not working either. I am using https://appear.in to test.
The camera shows up in the drop down. but when I select it, I get a message "Failed to get camera and microphone".

Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this?
