	oreons,

First off, thank you for giving us this amazing program... and even more so thank you for being so engaged in the community to fix unique issues! I've successfully used this to convert some recent TV shows that were encoded to 720p MKV, but I have a series that refuses to encode with audio. The file is a 6GB 1080p MKV Dexter episode, so I'm not sure it's feasible for me to upload anywhere, but if possible I'll try to trip it down to a few minutes.

To summarize, no matter what options I use, the file finishes its encode with no audio. Here's the log file:
Repack/encoder video to MP4 for Apple iPhone, iPad, ATV2. MkvToMp4 version 0.221a Lastly... If I can get this resolved and if it converts other files, I'll be more than happy to donate. Thank you!!!

Nice work, I batch converted a bunch of videos, took over 2 hours, would've taken an age to do it manually, many thanks.
-
I have a file larger than 4 Gb. What option do I have to set in order to be able to put it into my ipad 3 ?
-
I haven't checked the iPad/iPhone, and iPods in a long while, but if you have them formatted to work with a Windows system, doesn't it still format them as FAT32? That would tend to rule out single files over 4GB. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
-
	Ai Haibara,
In iPad / iPhone file system is not FAT32, and it is not formatted in Windows.
-
...But that's what I was asking (which drive file system it DOES use, for use with a Windows system). When I first brought my old iPod home, I wanted to use it with both Windows and my Mac, so I used the setup procedures (Apple's installer/setup) on our Windows system. That formatted the iPod as FAT32.

What I wanted to know, was that when you currently first connect your iPod/iPad/iPhone to a Windows system and set everything up for use with that Windows system, does it still format the iDevice as FAT32, or actually (finally) use NTFS?
(I'd like it if Apple created an actual HFS/HFS+ driver for Windows... )
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? )
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
-
Why? It is not necessary for synchronizing. This is not copying files using Windows.
-
...Never mind. This is going off-topic, anyway. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
-
As far as I understand it 32 bit MP4's have a maximum filesize of 4GB, and this has nothing to do with FAT32...?

Which is one reason why most movies are containerised in MKV I imagine.Last edited by Chug a Bug; 30th Oct 2012 at 09:01.

	Hey Oreons,

Is there a way of keeping DTS or does this always need to be converted to AC3?

I'd like to keep the DTS as I use an amp to decode.

 Many thanks!!

Hi, I had just been wondering if there was a tool that would allow me to remux tracks into the mp4 format when I stumbled upon this thread. I downloaded it immediately. Thank you for making such a great program. i have only one question/request. The MKV container supports adding fonts to the file so the subtitles file can be properly displayed. I was wondering if this could be added to the program if it's even possible to add fonts to the MP4 container. If it's not, which I assume to be the case, is there anyway for the subtitles to display with the correct font?
-
	ROBO731,
Maybe you need to use hardsubs, but in this program it's not supported.
-
Excellent app which I am very happy to have found after much searching....

One issue which I realize may just be a misunderstanding/mis-setting n my part:

I have a couple of mkv TV program episodes which have 6ch AC3 audio tracks. I am trying to create mp4 versions for iPad and want the output bitrate to be 2ch 160kbps AAC. After conversion the AC3 track has been downmixed to stereo as expected but the bit rate of the resulting AAC file is 175kbps on one fle and 192kbps on the other. I tried changing the AAC quality setting from 0.55 to 0.45 but the resulting bit rates stay the same.

 Thoughts?
-
	ROBO731,
 It is impossible.

 shoganai,
The program uses TVBR mode for encoding AAC. In this mode, setup the quality and not the bitrate.
